Editorial: Fast Fashion is a sustainable solution
Some say there is a correlation between bad working conditions and fast fashion. Fast Fashion is about being lean delivering products faster, better and cheaper by eliminating waste, duplication and inefficiencies.
In the main one is able to this by an alignment of cultures between brand/retailer and supplier and by the creation of a partnership which work together to eliminate the huge waste in the fashion supply chain. It is a fundamental principle of those operating Fast Fashion to operate a manner which is ethically compliant because it requires very close control of the supply chain to reduce throughput time.
And one should not confuse cheap fashion with Fast Fashion - that is like comparing a Ford Focus with a Citroen 2CV.
We have been applying Lean concepts to the Fashion supply chain for 15 years this year - we are pleased to have worked with great manufacturers, brands and retailers around the world.
We believe that Lean Fashion is the future. Ken, 27 April 2011
